Why Men Earn more Money than Women - 891 Words

I think the most important reason that women earn less is that a few decades ago women did not receive equal education on the higher level and I think that affect the deferens in salaries today, and here is why. 35 to 15 years ago when we had a less equal society, more women made career choices which at the time was considered the norm for women, for example, almost all women were expected to have children and stay at home with the children and take care of the house, while men were expected to work and make a career, and that affected their chance of both getting a job and getting a good salary. Most men made a career had a higher salary while a big minority of the women became housewives and stayed at home with the children. An economic myth is that women make 83 à ¶re for every crown a man make because they are discriminated in the labor market. Like other myths, these doses have a bit of truth to it. So for example, if you add up all the incomes of women and divide it by the number of women in the labor force and then do the same thing for men, what you will find is, that on average, women do make about 83 percent of what men do. What’s happening here is not discrimination in the labor market, but differences in the choices that men and women make about investing their knowledge, their education, their skills, and their job experiences that leads them to getting paid different salaries.
